Hand Pollination - Summer Gardening Skills Master Class

Pollination plays a crucial role in achieving successful summer vegetable harvests. But how well do you understand the pollination needs of your plants? Are you familiar with which plants are self-pollinating, which require cross-pollination, and which rely on wind, insects, or animals? And do you know which ones might need a little extra help, literally with your own hands?

Join Karen Sutherland for this one-hour Master Class session where she will:

  • Introduce you to the world of pollination, explaining the different types;
  • Identify which summer vegetables in your garden may benefit from hand pollination;
  • Teach you the biological elements to look for to recognise male and female plant parts.
  • Teach you the equipment and techniques for hand-pollinating different fruit bearing plants;
  • Explain the importance of hand pollination, not only for achieving abundant crops but also for maintaining seed integrity for future seasons.

By the end of this session, you’ll have the knowledge and tools to boost your vegetable garden’s and will be bursting to get out into the garden to help your plants along.  This session is the first in a series called “Summer Gardening Skills”. Other topics include – Seed Saving and Storing and Fruit Tree Pruning.  Book the Series Package for discount. Friends of SGA receive a 15% discount on Master Class full price tickets.
