Understanding Shade, Sun and Heat - Summer Gardening Skills Master Class
You often see terms like full sun, sun, part shade, and shade on plant labels, but what do they really mean for vegetable gardening? How do you know where to place your plants? And then there’s heat – a different factor entirely.
In this one-hour online Masterclass, Teresa Day will explain the differences between light descriptions like sun and part shade, what light and warmth plants need to thrive, and how you recognise but also create suitable microclimates in your garden, regardless of its size. Focusing on summer vegetables, she’ll also cover the growing need for semi-permanent shade structures, providing examples of different styles and types to suit your needs, along with tips on sourcing materials and emphasizing the importance of reusing and recycling. No summer session sould be complete without watering!!! She will explain the most efficient way to water your plants and how designs of wicking beds are developing and evolving.
