Edible Weeds - The Most Carbon Saving Food

Continuing our "Carbon in the Garden" Series, is this Master Class session on Edible Weeds.  Weeds are often seen as a nuisance by home gardeners, but they are actually a valuable, untapped resource rich in nutrients and minerals. While their deep tap roots can compete with vegetables for soil nutrients and moisture, they can also be beneficial if used correctly. With minimal help required to grow, they are the ultimate low carbon food source, for you and your garden!  It makes you question why we don't use and eat more of them!

In this one hour masterclass given by Teresa Day, you will learn to identify, manage and use weeds using an integrated approach that minimizes environmental impact. The session will cover how to utilize weeds as a natural fertilizer and food source, including:

- Understanding what constitutes a weed.

- Exploring the nutrients found in weeds.

- Techniques for making garden fertilizer from weeds.

- Enhancing compost with weeds.

- Using weeds for pest control.

- Identifying edible weeds and understanding common weed profiles.

This session is one of four in a Masterclass Series "Carbon In Your Garden".
