Communications and Fundraising Manager Position – Feb 2023
SGA is currently looking for a communications and fundraising all rounder for 15.2 hours per week. This is a very flexible role for the right person and we welcome applicants based anywhere in Australia. If you are based in Melbourne it would help collaboration getting to know the team if you were in our office in Bulleen one day a week.
We are a friendly, supportive and collaborative group of dedicated people committed to making a significant contribution to the natural environment through the world of gardening.
Your role will include, but will not be limited to:
- Creating and managing SGA’s communications which are predominantly digital i.e. website (including appearance, function, content and SEO), social media, monthly and quarterly newsletters, bulk emailing and management of web-based Friends of SGA.
- Developing content for SGA’s digital platforms that reflects SGA’s strategic plan, objectives and goals, key messaging and income generation.
- Building reach of SGA’s digital platforms with target audiences including home, community and professional gardeners, local and state government departments and the general public.
- Through data collection, analysis and market research, evaluating communications performance in order to develop and drive new initiatives and approaches to increase SGA’s reach and revenue.
- Participating in team meetings with other specialists and volunteers and liaising with management and the Board as required.
- Some general administration.
- Working with and recruiting social media volunteers to enhance SGA’s internal effectiveness and breadth of reach.
Key selection criteria
- Demonstrated qualifications and professional experience
- Demonstrated interest and knowledge of gardening and environmental sustainability
- Excellent communication skills which enable communicating effectively with a wide range of audiences
- Expertise in social media management
- Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to measure program effectiveness
- Self-motivated with ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and work well under pressure
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills which will allow effective collaboration with volunteers and staff of the small SGA team and other stakeholders
- Flexibility, as we are a small group and you’ll be required to pitch in at all levels
