Yummy Yards is HERE!

'Yummy Yards' is a 2-part garden workshop series that specifically deals with home produce gardening. Each workshop emphasises the steps necessary to incorporate a successful and sustainable produce garden into any home garden. Both 2.5 hour workshops will assist participants from the design and development stage through to the ongoing maintenance and seasonal adaptations of their produce gardens.

Topics are covered in depth by qualified SGA presenters and include:

Workshop 1 - Designing an Efficient Home Produce Garden

Including soil assessment and improvement; creating garden micro-climates; permaculture and organic gardening principals; no-dig gardens and container gardens; irrigation requirements.

Workshop 2 - Running an Efficient Home Produce Garden

Including selecting annual and perennial plants; choosing fruit trees and vines; plant pollination and fruit set; companion planting; non-chemical pest control; problem solving using IPM; harvesting produce and seed collection.

Participants will receive comprehensive workshop notes to enable them to revisit the extensive information provided during the sessions. In addition, SGA will provide a dedicated forum area on its website for participants to exchange information as they create their home produce gardens.

All presenters are experienced trainers with years of practical experience in the gardening and nursery industries. The program recognises the ever growing need of urbanites to grow their own healthy, delicious produce at home - saving money and the planet at the same time!
