Kennedia prostrata(Running Postman)Description: Spring is the peak season for plants from the pea family to be gloriously out in flower. Despite being prostrate, Kennedia prostrata or Running Postman is currently very conspicuous for its masses of bright red flowers. This plant originally grew over most of Melbourne in dry grassland, woodland, scrub, sclerophyll, heath and low open forest communities. It is described as being indigenous to localities in Melbourne that were originally covered by those plant communities. Click here to return to the list.
