Chrysocephalum apiculatum(Common Everlasting)Description: This local daisy with clusters of bright yellow flowers looks wonderful in mass plantings or in a rockery contrasting with indigenous bluebells (Wahlenbergia sp.) or native flax (Linum marginale). The leaves of Common Everlasting are a lovely silver grey that contrast well with the flowers. This plant is indigenous to many areas of Melbourne from plains grassland, redgum and box woodland, dry sclerophyll forest and tea-tree heath. Widespread. It grows in all well drained soils in dry conditions and full sun. It also tolerates moderately salty wind making it suitable for coastal plantings. Common Everlasting grows from 50cm – 1m and the peak flowering period is from September to December. Severe pruning after flowering will encourage new growth. Click here to return to the list.
