Donations

Sustainable Gardening Australia is a not-for-profit organisation. In addition to our financial subscribers, we rely on help from people like you to ensure that we remain a viable organisation that can continue to make a REAL difference to the way Australians garden. This in turn will have a positive impact on the wider environment and even help reduce the effects of global warming. We greatly appreciate any donation, no matter how small!

There has been an increasing awareness of the impact of climate change together with an appreciation of the fragility of our unique Australian environment. Sustainable Gardening Australia is developing many new and innovative programs that will continue to address the issue of sustainability in private and public gardens and focus on our need to garden in sympathy with the wider environment. Your gift will help to support us in this important work.

Volunteer Today... and do your bit for a sustainable world

SGA aims to see every Australian gardening in a sustainable manner and enjoying it.

SGA's Vision

Sustainable Gardening Australia envisages a world where people cultivate their gardens in sympathy with the environment by following the seasonal rhythms of the land, its ecology and climate.

We are a small, but dynamic, not-for-profit organisation. As we continue to grow we will be looking for passionate people to join our dedicated team, both as volunteers and as paid members of staff. We would love to hear from anyone who believes they have the qualities we are looking for. If you have made a commitment to sustainable living and have a love of gardening we would like to hear from you. For a far more detailed outline of our vision, mission, values and purpose, click here.

It isn't just gardeners we need!

Volunteer work with SGA can mean anything from answering phones to data entry to manning the SGA stand at garden shows. There is no better way to get to know the team at SGA than by volunteering some of your time or skills (or services if you run a business). We are always in need of flexible, committed volunteers who believe in the principles SGA is promoting.

What does SGA offer our volunteers?

  • A dynamic, happy and focussed work environment.

  • The knowledge that you are helping a worthy cause that is making a real difference to Australian gardening practices.

  • A chance to learn new skills in a wide range of areas.

  • The opportunity to work with the very committed and knowledgeable SGA team, and to be involved the building of the SGA community.

  • Freddo Frogs on a Friday afternoon

SGA volunteers are:

  • interested in sustainable living and gardening practices

  • highly motivated and willing to learn new skills

  • able to work in a responsible, punctual, dependable, conscientious and courteous way

  • willing to work as part of a cohesive team

  • able to commit to at least four hours a week on a regular basis

We envisage opportunities for volunteers with a wide range of different skills, knowledge and experience. We look forward to working with people of all ages from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience.

Count me in, how do I sign up?

If you are interested in joining our team of volunteers, or have any further questions, please fill in the form below. The more information you can provide, the easier it will be for us to find you an appropriate role for you. We are interested in hearing about as many of your skills as you can think of, even if they don't seem relevant to you. That six month stint you did in a graphic design office ten years ago may well be exactly what we are looking for. So don't be shy... let fly with your life experiences!
