Carbon Neutral

Transport is one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions in Australia (Australian Greenhouse Office). Research has shown that trees, over time, absorb carbon dioxide emissions. SGA staff record their fuel consumption each year, record our energy usage and then calculate our carbon footprint.(www.carbonneutral.com.au)

Each autumn we then plant out an appropriate number of indigenous plants for a local Landcare group to offset our emissions.

SGA also switches off all electronic equipment out of work hours, has computers set to automatically shutdown when not in use, stocks 100% recycled Australian paper, reuses paper in the printer where possible. Staff make an effort to ride to work or car pool where possible.

All waste generated from the SGA office is either composted or put in the recycle bin.
